What are UEBA (User and Entity Behavior Analytics) and UBA (User Behavior Analytics)?

User and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) and user behavior analytics (UBA) are systems that apply advanced analytics, including machine learning, to establish a baseline for the behavior of various users and/or entities (in this case, technology elements such as servers, applications, network traffic, databases, etc.) interacting with a corporate network.

These tools flag any behavior that deviates from the established baseline as a potential security incident worth evaluating further. UEBA functionality is being rapidly integrated into other security tools and is becoming less prominent as a stand-alone market. UEBA is considered a comprehensive description of this solution, since it includes both users and entities.
